What can I donate?
We accept all kids' and teens' clothing, school uniform, footwear and accessories.
With the above you can also donate baby clothes and adult clothing. What we do not need we will pass on to our partner charities and social enterprices.
If you have ONLY baby clothes and/or toys to donate, we recommend donating these directly to Merry-Go-Round.
How are donations treated?
We quality check all donations we receive for faults and stains.
Most items are washed and dried, but items arriving in pristine condition will be used as they are. This will help us to save energy and keep our carbon footprint low.
How are donations used?
All donations that have passed the quality check will be sold on our brick and mortar shop, or online, or put to free clothing packages.
Can I donate only to free packages?
Unfortunately we cannot differentiate whose donations will be used for packages only and whose will be sold only - your donations will likely be a mixture of both!
Please note that we are a social enterprice aiming to make profit, but we are committed in investing that profit back to our community, after covering our operational costs.
Read more FAQs about the packaging service in the "Free Clothing Packages" section on this page.
How does ApparelXchange deal with textile waste?
We often receive rags; items with significant faults that may not be fixable. Anything that we deem as "waste", will be passed on to textile recycling, where they will be turned into new materials such as industrial rags.
Any items with faults that we can fix, we will aim to do so within our resources!
Any usable items that we will not use, we will pass on to other charities, social enterprices and other organisations that will benefit from these items.
Our Products
Kids Sizing Guide
As you may know, many brands have their own sizing standards and same sizes from different brands are not always the same.
We size our products by age and height (cm), and aim to remain as close to the brands sizing as possible:
We follow thins simple chart:
4-5 years, height: 104-110cm
5-6 years, height: 110-116cm
6-7 years, height: 116-122cm
7-8 years, height: 122-128cm
8-9 years, height: 128-134cm
9-10 years, height: 134-140cm
10-11 years, height: 140-146cm
11-12 years, height: 146-152cm
12-13 years, height: 152-158cm
13-14 years, height: 158-164cm
14+ years, height: 164cm
and up
We identify age and height details from the brand labels, and images of the labels are included in our listings*
Please check all label information properly, and please get in touch sonja@apparelxchange.co.uk if you have any questions about any products.
Adult sizing guide
We are aware that many teens are wearing adult sizes instead of age labelled clothing. To be able to cater for as many young people as possible, we have a selection of adult clothes in our stores.
For simplicity, we have sized all clothes based on letters XS, S, M, L, XL as per original labels. If the clothes are labelled UK women's size, or men's trousers in inches, here are some conversion tables:
UK women sizes
UK 6-8 = XS
UK 10 = S
UK 12 = M
UK 14 = L
UK 16 = XL
Women’s trousers/jeans sizing:
W24 = XS
W26 = S
W30 = M
W32 = L
W34 = XL
Men’s trousers:
26-28in = XS
30-32in = S
33-35in = M
36in = L
38in = XL
All original sizing information will be written in the product description, and images of the size labels will be included in the listings. If in doubt please email us on sonja@apparelxchange.co.uk
How are the products priced?
We have a minimum pricing for each product category that includes the cost
of processing the items.
The minimum price may be altered based on brand, the quality of the clothing
and potential faults.
We are making sure our product is always fairly priced as preloved! Should you have any questions, please reach out.
Are the products on your online store the same what you have in the shop?
NO! What we sell in our shop is not listed online, and what's listed online, is not available on our shop.
So if you cannot find what you are looking for, check our online store or visit our shop!
What if I cannot find what I am looking for on your online store OR in the shop?
We have hundreds of items available that have not yet been delivered to the shop or listed online.
If you cannot find what you are looking for on either sites, please get in touch via Whatsapp/txt 07383572327 or email sonja@apparelxchange.co.uk and let us know what you are looking for and we can see if we have it!
Why aren't all your online store clothing categories divided into "Girls" and "Boys"?
We believe that dividing all our product categories into 2 genders may restrict their reuse. Afterall, something traditionally marketed for boys or girls can be worn by other genders as well.
We received this feedback some time ago from our customers, and we wanted to listen to them and respect their wishes - and we could not agree more!
For certain items such as school uniform, we have specified gender due to the fit and detailing, but this is not to say that anyone could not wear them!
What if I want to see clothing on your online store only for Girls OR Boys?
Should you wish to scroll clothing traditionally marketed for girls or boys on our online store, there are 2 categories in our Casualwear collection dedicated for these, where all our online store items have been divided based on these requirements. Unfortunately, in these categories you will not be able to filter with collection type such as "trousers" or "t-shirts" for example.
We are looking into this matter and might be able to update this in the future.
Can I buy a gift card?
Yes we do! Please note we have 2 different types of gift cards:
You can buy a gift card to our ONLINE STORE ONLY here: Buy AXC Online Store Gift Card
You may also buy a gift card for our SHOP ONLY. To buy a gift card for our shop you will need to visit our shop in Glasgow Southside and purchase one there.
Please note we do not currently have a gift card that can be used on both online and our shop. Due to how our shop and online work, we are currently unable to provide a gift card that would work on both sites. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Free Clothing Packages
What is your free clothing packages service?
As part of our social mission, we gift free clothing packages for Glasgow families in need. These can be school uniform packages or casualwear packages, or a mixture.
This service is covered by public and private funding, and revenue from selling clothing on our sites.
Who can access the clothing packages service?
Currently our clothing package service is for families in Glasgow.
Organisations, charities, schools and individuals can access this service, provided we have the stock and funding in place at the time.
We may stop accepting package requests for a period of time if we; need time to restock; we have a backlog of fulfilling packages; or we do not have the adequate funding to offer the service.
This service is meant for families in need, who for any reason might not be able to fund clothing for their children from their own income.
Is the clothing packages service always available?
The clothing packages service is open when we have funds to cover it. When we are able to cover the operational costs of the packages with either funding or our own resources, the service will be available.
I am from an organisation with a budget to support a family/families. How can we apply for clothing?
If you are from an organisation supporting a family and have a budget to source clothing, please get in touch hello@apparelxchange.co.uk with details of what is required and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
